If you are searching for “Replacement Drawer Boxes” you more than likely have a drawer broken in your kitchen or bathroom. Cheap drawer boxes tend to fall apart long before they should and when replacing them choosing quality dovetail, solid wood, or other durable and long lasting options are the best option. When you are remodeling your kitchen or bathroom you might consider replacing all of your drawer boxes to start completely fresh and new. There are great options for soft close and full extension drawers. Today’s drawers can also help organize your things better and provide power outlet and USB charging options.
The Quality Drawer Box Investment
Drawers in our kitchens and bathrooms quickly become “catch-alls” that hold all sorts of items. Many times this includes hardware, tools, and spare parts. Cheap drawer boxes don’t hold up well with the weight and demands that most of us place on the drawers in our homes. The pressure on materials, hardware, and the joints tests the initial quality of construction. Even when we are busy cooking or getting ready in the morning we can pull too hard on and slam drawers which can damage your drawers. Poorly made drawer boxes show signs of stress and fail all too soon.
Quality drawer boxes are a bit more when you purchase them but they are the more cost effective option as they will outlast inferior products by years. Using higher quality products when replacing or remodeling items in your home adds significant value. The dovetail joint is one of the highest quality joint methods and is the preferred option for many cabinet makers. While the joints are precision tight the combined application of wood glue makes these the best option for long lasting, durable, and beautiful drawer boxes. Dovetail drawer joints are possible with both composite and solid wood drawer box materials.

Drawer Box Sizes & Options
Solid Wood Dovetail Drawer Boxes
Solid wood is prepared by sanding, buffing, and finishing when it is to be used to make dovetail drawer boxes. This process makes the wood as beautiful as it is durable. The appearance of your drawers as you open and close them shows when you invest in quality. The lifespan of solid wood drawer boxes made with dovetail joints far out performs cheaper drawer box construction materials or joinery.
Melamine Dovetail Drawer Boxes
Melamine is a synthetic plastic product that is usually heat applied on top of MDF or particle board. This coating is durable and visually attractive. The appearance can be made in colors like white, black, and even wood patterns. Melamine drawer boxes are cost effective and easy to clean.
Plywood Dovetail Drawer Boxes
Plywood is another option that cabinet makers and homeowners have when considering replacement drawer boxes. Plywood is made from layering multiple layers of thin sheets of wood with their grain going opposite directions. Drawer Connection uses 9 ply plywood for our drawer boxes so they will have great longevity and strength. Thin plywood tends to wear out quicker, warp, and even sag when there are heavier items placed in drawers. The quality of the raw materials used to make drawer boxes for your home is important, it will define how long your investments last.
OPTION 1: (1/4” Bottom):
Bottom raised 3/8” from bottom edge of drawer box. We use this sizing on all standard boxes receiving bottom mount or side mount drawer glides.
OPTION 2: (1/4” Bottom):
Bottom raised a 1/2” from bottom edge of drawer box. We use this on all boxes receiving soft-close under mount drawer glides.
OPTION 3: (1/2” Bottom):
Both options 1 and 2 apply for 1/2” bottoms with the exception of under mount glides. If bottoms being raised 1/2” up there will be a hole approximately 1/4” wide where the groove goes through the side and can’t be hidden by the dovetail.
